Year in review 2020: Turning ideas to reality
This year was tough for a lot of us, with me not being an exception. I struggled with a lot this year as I put myself under so much pressure to be a great leader, son, partner, etc. that I stressed myself out to a point of losing sleep and skipping out on meals. I laughed about this today reading through my journal entries in January that I entered this year feeling tired and I am leaving this year feeling tired.
“As my first year as a full-on ‘entrepreneur’, is this how my life is supposed to go on?” I asked myself. Despite the struggles this year, it was actually full of blessings as I reflected on the past 12 months of this rollercoaster of the year. This is my first public year in review and it’s because I want to be a lot more transparent about the progress, for those starting out and my kids in the future (technology is here to stay). So let’s jump in.
Turning ideas to reality
I started the year off with a few roles/goals:
- Chief Operations Officer at My Mind Matters Too (MMMT): This was a mental health research & development project at the time that I worked on in a 2-person team with the award-winning Meg. At the start of the year, we were not a registered company, had no income, had an undefined idea, and not much success metrics but a fiery passion for making mental health simpler for young people.
